6 Things to Keep in Mind for Medical Exams Preparation

Often students face difficulties while starting the preparations for the medical entrance examinations considering the amount and level of competition. People simply start focusing on the completion of the syllabus rather than making a detailed study plan to cover each topic in detail while focusing on other aspects of the preparation as well. 1.    Start with the basics
Yes, till you do not have a firm foundation, preparation for the advanced course will be of no importance. Make a habit to start clarifying the basics. The most appropriate foundation for the medical entrance examinations is built in class 11th. Go through the syllabus of this standard at least twice to have a good command and understanding of the topics. Once you feel that you have gathered all the basic information, go ahead and test it before jumping to the advanced preparation.

2.    Take ample of mock tests
Taking enough mock tests can boost your confidence and at the same time, it will also make you aware of your weak points. Make sure to note down the areas and topics you scored less and focus on that again.  Practice is the key. Keep practicing and keep going. Find the various mock test series available on the internet for free and test your skills at regular intervals. Get help from your teachers, elders or ask the online community if any doubt arises. 3.    Attempt long and descriptive questions as well
Human tendency is to avoid the difficult situation whether it is in life or in exams. Students often face difficulties in solving long and a descriptive question that consumes a lot of efforts and time. People most of the time try to escape from these questions, but the fact remains the same, they are going to come in your exams. Be prepared to solve and have a good practice of long questions. Once you get into a habit of solving such question, it won’t create difficulty in the later stages of your preparation.

4.    Solve previous years question papers
A smart student knows how to put his/her plan into action by choosing the right and efficient way of preparation. Solving multiple previous year question sets gives you an overview of the exam paper that helps you to decide your study pattern, important topics, and your weak points etc.  Try to practice at least last 3-5 years question papers. Sometimes these papers also make you aware of the topics you thought were not important, topics you missed or the pattern you were not aware of.

5.    Take enough sleep & eat healthily

This is the most important tip for all the students preparing for any kind of exams. A healthy body and mind can help you achieve your desired goal. Make sure you take at least 8 hours of sound sleep daily. Include rich protein food in your diet along with lots of fruits and vegetables. Remember, a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.

6.    Be confident in your preparations
Occasionally students start doubting their years of preparations if they miss one right answer or they don’t know one topic. Keep in mind the things you already know, the efforts you have put, the knowledge you have acquired in these years of preparation. Never let your confidence go down, instead, work on the topic and that question to make you aware of the thing you missed. It is common for a human mind to slip one or two things when a thousand things are known. Have faith, rise up, and motivate yourself to do well, not once, keep doing it till you succeed.
